If you are dealing with acne, you may be wondering if there is anything you can do to get rid of the blemishes that you are dealing with. The good news is that there are many different options for acne treatment out there today. A variety of different treatments are available, depending on the severity of your acne, from over the counter treatments, to prescription treatments, to natural treatments. Here is a closer look at some of the acne treatment options you have available to you today.

Acne Remedies

One of the most common acne treatment options happens to be benzyol peroxide, which is used topically. This ingredient is actually used in a variety of different treatments available for treating acne problems. Often it is found in gel, cream, soap, and washes and can be used in various strengths. This ingredient is used to treat acne that is mild to moderate and it helps to kill of the bacteria that can cause acne to occur. There are some side effects that can occur though, such as irritation, redness, and dryness. If you decide to use a treatment with this ingredient, be very careful, since it can bleach both hair and fabric.

Topical antibiotics are commonly used for acne treatment as well. These antibiotics are used on the outside of the body to help kill bacteria as well. Some of the common options used include Tetracycline, Erythomycin, Stiemycin, and Clindamycin. This type of treatment is usually for moderate to severe acne and it comes with a variety of side effects. Some of the side effects include drug interactions, upset stomach, and it can be difficult to apply.

If acne does not respond to lower level treatments, sometimes oral antibiotics will be used for treatment. However, they are usually only used for severe acne problems. They help to reduce the bacteria that causes acne, but they really don’t help to reduce the oil that is secreted at the body. Often this type of treatment does not work, since as soon as you stop taking the antibiotics, the acne often comes right back. The bacteria that causes acne can become immune to these antibiotics as well, which means that this treatment may not work out very well after some time.

While there are over the counter and prescription treatments for acne, you will also find that there are a variety of natural treatments out there. Many people look for natural options, since they are less likely to bring about side effects. Some have even found that natural treatments are more effective than prescription options. For those that are worried about side effects of other treatment options, natural acne treatment may be the way to go.
