Human Papilloma Virus 101: Genital Warts
HPV or human papilloma virus is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. Millions of Americans are infected by HPV, with an estimated number of 5 million new cases every year. Genital warts are caused by HPV. They are small, pink-white and cauliflower-shaped in appearance. It is quite a challenge to detect genital warts as symptoms do not usually manifest themselves. Thus, making it hard, even impossible, for an infected person to treat and to prevent from spreading. Like most viruses, there is no known cure that can completely get rid of HPV. However, several methods are available today for the treatment of genital warts.
