Dressing your Kids In No-Risk Clothes

You may not have thought about it before, but some pieces of clothing can pose a threat to children’s safety. There are parts that can be swallowed, trapped or cause strangulation. in extreme conditions, clothes should be worn that match the right temperature. You also need to check to see if a child has the right footwear on for the activity they are performing. Governments around the world have different guidelines and regulations governing the manufacture of children’s clothes.

Because of the threat of strangulation, if childrens hoodies have a drawstring in the USA, they are deemed illegal. The string can get caught and end up around the child’s neck. Retailers have been prosecuted for selling hoodies with drawstrings in.

Maran and K.S Trading, Kohl and hill Sportswear have been fined recently. Hills was responsible for a drawstring with a hoodies that strangled a child to death.

Childrens hoodies are a staple item in a wardrobe but you just need to purchase one with no drawstring.

Footwear can also lead to accidents and fatalities if it is unsuitable for what the child is doing. To make sure your child does not fall whilst climbing, boots should be worn. On slippery surfaces, grips should be worn.

When sleeping a child also needs to wear the right clothes. Material which is baggy enough to ride up can suffocate very young children. Tight clothes should be worn in bed so no movement occurs in the night. But make sure the wrists and neck are not constricted.

If your child is going to be in extremely hot or cold weather conditions, they need to dress appropriately. Light clothes and a hat should be worn in the sun. Hands and heads should be covered in the cold to prevent heat loss, and children should wrap up in layers.

This advice will help you to dress your child safely at keep them out of the way of unnecessary risk caused by their clothes.
